The Chartered Management Institute Level 2 in Team Leading is designed for practising or aspiring team leaders. The CMI Level 2 gives new team leaders a solid foundation on which to progress in their careers and in their formal leadership development, providing an excellent basis from which to progress to higher level CMI management courses.
There are three Chartered Management Institute qualifications at Level 2; the Award, Certificate and Diploma in Team Leading.

How does the course work?
Study Time:
You can study at a pace to suit you. Your tutor will create a timetable for you, and will set you work and assignments to complete each week.
If you can spend around 3 hours a week studying, you should be able to complete the course in 3 months for the Award, 6 months for the Certificate or 18 months for the Diploma. If you can spend more time studying than that, you could fast-track and complete the course faster.
Course Structure:
You must complete any of the units below to make up at least 5 credits to gain the Award, or 15 credits to gain the Certificate. To gain the Diploma, you must complete all of the units in Group A along with one optional unit from Group B.
Assessments
Assessment is normally via practical work-based assignments.
Qualification Received:
You will receive the Chartered Management Institute Level 2 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Team Leading.

This unit is about the development of the skills and knowledge of the team leader, and their responsibilities for team welfare. It covers the design and implementation of development plans, as well as the team leader's role in dealing with diversity, discrimination and harassment in the workplace.

This unit is about the role of communication in a team leader's job, and deals with organising and leading a team briefing to communicate within the team.
Controlling Resources (6 credits)

This unit is about identifying, requesting, controlling and maximising resources to achieve the work objectives. It also looks at the effects of resource wastage, and ways to minimise this.
Building Work Relationships (5 credits)

This unit is about communicating, developing and maintaining work relationships with the manager, team and those outside the team. It deals with communication methods as well as the need for good working relationships with managers and team members.

This unit deals with the induction of new team members. It covers inducting a new team member and identifying, planning and implementing team training requirements.
Providing Customer Service (5 credits)

This unit covers identifying the team's internal and external customers, as well as their required level of service and the role of the team leader in providing this service. It also describes methods of resolving customer service issues, methods of communicating with customers and the team leader's level of authority in resolving issues.
